NICKEL SILVER: NOT BRASS

The material matters. Nickel silver alloy produces a tonal character distinct from standard brass gongs. The fundamental is more defined. The overtone spread is richer and more complex. The sustain is longer. Practitioners who play both consistently describe the difference in how the sound occupies a space, and how their clients respond to it.

A SUN FORMED BY HAND

The engraved solar motif isn't decorative trim, it's formed into the face of the gong by Grotta Sonora's craftspeople at their Italian workshop. Each piece is shaped by hand, which means each one is slightly unique. The 24"/60cm diameter gives the Sun Gong a physical presence that draws attention before you've even picked up a mallet.
