Cálix D/A - Somni Sounds
Handcrafted by Somni Sounds, the Cálix is a sculptural instrument that responds to motion: move it while it sounds and the tone modulates, filling the space with resonant harmonics. The body is a harmonically rich aluminium alloy, shaped and honed with micrometric tuning to bring out full overtones and crystal-clear sustain.
This one is tuned D/A, two central notes a perfect fifth apart, an interval long associated with a calm, harmonious feeling, and it carries a lovely warm tone. At home in sound therapy, sound healing, meditation, yoga and dance.
