Cálix E/B - Somni Sounds
A sculptural instrument from the workshop of Somni Sounds, the Cálix turns movement into sound. As it rings, motion modulates the tone around you, so a slow sweep of the arm becomes an enveloping soundscape. It is handcrafted from a harmonically rich aluminium alloy, with its form and angles honed by micrometric tuning for rich overtones and crystal-clear sustain.
This Cálix is tuned E/B, two central notes a perfect fifth apart, an interval long associated with ease and balance, and its voice has a bright, uplifting quality. Lovely for sound healing sessions, sound therapy, meditation, yoga and dance.
